Crags Hike and 4th of July

Ok, this post gets me all caught up on my pictures! We didn't do a whole lot on the 4th, but had a busy long weekend. We left Nora with Jessica (yikes...scary for mommy!) and took the boys on a very special outing to see Cars 2. I didn't like the movie a bit (too much shooting and complicated story-line), but the boys enjoyed the whole experience, which was the point. They needed some special time with Josh and I and it did the trick. And of course Nora and Jessica did perfectly, so I worried for nothing.
Sunday we went up to the mountains to the Crags for a nice, beautiful and much cooler hike. The whole trail was 5.5 miles...it took us 4.5 hours for 4.5 miles! But, we had a good time and certainly enjoyed the cool weather.
Monday we took Jack to ride his bike in the morning, found a great new local place for lunch, then spent the evening at our neighbors' house. Next year we will definitely go in search of better fireworks.
Here's sweet Nora all dressed up in the adorable outfit my friend Laura sent...

Nora slept most of the hike, waking up only to nurse and watch the boys climb rocks for a few minutes.

Bear climbing up the big rock.

Henry walked about half the time. Good thing he still fits in the in backpack. And great workout for Josh...30lbs of Henry and a good 20lbs or so of water, food, etc!

Filthy before we even started. They played in the dirt while we got everything ready to go.

Quick dip in an icy cold stream...love Josh's face.

Foresty hikes are my favorite...shady, cool and pretty.
