We took a long, incredibly beautiful drive yesterday. It was about 6 hours with a couple short stops, but the boys did great. I'm still amazed we live here. 3 months in to it and the view I see all day of Pikes Peak and the Front Range STILL takes my breath away. And the weather? The fact that we can have snow and winter and still play outside without coats many days...perfect, if you ask me. Imagine how I'll feel in the summer!
We think all those snow-capped peaks in the distance are the backsides of the ski resorts...Aspen on the far left and Vail on the right. In fact, it was so clear, we THINK we could see all the way to Telluride. Didn't have a great map with us though, so we could be totally wrong. Beautiful, regardless. Too bad the pictures couldn't possibly do it justice.

Just a portion of the range we drove towards...
The west-facing side of Pikes Peak...
We drove through Canon City, home of the Royal Gorge. It's supposed to be this crazy 1000 foot drop with a suspension bridge across. The "Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River", as they say. However, we didn't get any closer than this because they were charging a whopping $24 per adult to go near it. Plus, it was lunch time.We think all those snow-capped peaks in the distance are the backsides of the ski resorts...Aspen on the far left and Vail on the right. No coats? That does sound great! Looks beautiful...have you tried the new post editor on blogger? It's much easier to make the photos bigger in your post. You can change to the new post editor at the bottom of the settings page somewhere.
Thanks for the picture tip! I'll try it next time.
