Beaver Creek Weekend

Last weekend we finally went up to Beaver Creek near Vail to use the condo we had rented but canceled long ago.  It's so beautiful and peaceful up there.  Lots of hiking and site-seeing and relaxing and undistributed family time.  We loved the little town of Eagle and would move there in a heartbeat if we could!
Don't let this face fool you.  The boy was in heaven.
While Henry still asked to be held a lot, he's getting better at hiking longer distances.  Distraction is the key with him.  He pretended he was gathering food for the imaginary miniature giraffe he keeps in his pocket.  Silly, imaginative little boy.
I like how Nora is looking back at Josh. And check out her super cute purple baby Keens from Grandma Post!
I can't get enough of these kinds of pictures.
The gorgeous aspens are my favorite.
Similar to what we enjoyed in Breckenridge a few years ago, there are summer activities at the base of the ski resort.  They particularly liked the bungy jump thing.

Snack break at a hike in Vail.
Sweet baby waking up from a long afternoon nap.  There's really nothing better than post-nap snuggles.

Those darn teeth!  She now has all four molars in.  Hopefully we will get a break.
Nice spot for mini golfing.

Watching the brothers.
Henry said "look mom, the cowboys are bringing the horses in!"
On the way home we drove up Mount Evans, a "fourteener" near Idaho Falls off I70.  We didn't make it to the summit because the wind seemed too dangerous.  But near the top is Summit Lake.  It's apparently always at least partially frozen.  Very pretty, but we were so cold in our shorts all we could do was jump out of the car for a quick picture. Still, it was the highest we've ever driven.  I've been afraid to do Pikes Peak because of the scary narrow road, but it wasn't so bad.  Gorgeous views!!

A quick break at this stream while Henry slept in the car.
This is what happens when you give a baby a packet of applesauce with which to entertain herself.  Mommy didn't think it was quite as funny as Miss Nora did.
