Christmas and Phoenix

Tried for a family picture with the self-timer before church...
Finally, Christmas arrived for Jack! He has been SO excited and quite patient. He's been talking about and even acting out Christmas morning for weeks, maybe months. All he asked for from Santa was Percy the train. Santa was nice enough to bring the boys a loaded new train table too. Definitely a hit! Here he is opening Percy.

We had a lovely, quiet Christmas morning at home, then packed up and drove to Arizona that afternoon. It took us over 12 hours, but went pretty well. I've never been a fan of having DVD players in the car, but finally gave in just for long car rides (the boys know they're a special treat!). What a trip saver! I usually spend most of a road trip turned around in my seat handing the boys things, entertaining them or putting out fires...exhausting. I only had to do that half the time! It did help that they fell asleep around 8pm and only woke up a couple short times. So, we got there early in the morning, slept for a few hours then had Christmas morning #2 at Grandma and Grandpa King's. Made extra special by Great Grandpa King spending it with us. G&G Post got the boys these adorable bathrobes, which Jack LOVES and insisted we bring along. G&G King got them these fishing sets which we had to immediately try out.
