Henry's 5th Birthday Party

We had a big birthday party for Henry at the community center in our neighborhood.  Maureen and Mandy came to join the fun and help out.  And so many people contributed generously to make it extra special! It was fun to have enough space and entertainment to invite all his friends! A friend of a friend who is a professional photographer offered to take pictures.  I didn't take one single picture...weird, but great to just enjoy the party.
The chocolate fountain was a big hit!

The face painter was an even bigger hit!  And so talented.  Nora told her she wanted the bird on her shirt and that's exactly what she got. We had about 30 kids and I think they all got a turn or two.  Our friend Nicole had to step in at the end and did an awesome job too.
Mesmerized by the balloon artist.  Some serious talent there too!  And so patient.  He made many for each child and kindly repaired dozens that needed fixing.

All the boys asked for balloon swords.
Henry and his best buddy Abram from preschool.
Pinatas!  It's hilarious how crazy they go when it breaks.  It was mostly little toys along with recycled halloween candy.

There are so few pictures with a genuine happy face from Jack, had to include this even if everyone else looks silly :)
Henry was pretty timid throughout the party.  Maybe a little overwhelmed.  I think he had had chemo the day before.  But, he still said it was the best day ever and talks daily about plans for his next birthday.  It felt like an extra special birthday for him, especially being so close to the maintenance phase.  We were very glad to be able to do it and celebrate with many great friends.
